Rooted in Scripture. Faithful to Christ. Committed to the community.
At Landmark Baptist Church, everything we do flows from a simple conviction: the Bible is the inspired, preserved Word of God, and Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. Explore our mission, history, and what we believe.
Our Mission
Winning souls to Christ, edifying believers through the Word of God, and sending missionaries to the ends of the earth. We exist to glorify God and make disciples in Woodruff, SC and beyond.
Our History
Founded in faith in February 2011, Landmark Baptist Church held its first service on May 17, 2011 in the Woodruff Community Center. Eleven months later, God opened the door to a permanent home.
Statement of Faith
We are a conservative, fundamental Baptist church holding to the historic doctrines of the Christian faith as revealed in the King James Bible. See what we believe.
Our Mission
Landmark Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church founded upon the principles of God’s Word. We are committed to preaching and teaching from the King James Bible, upholding its authority in every aspect of faith and practice.
Our mission is to glorify God by providing a place of old-fashioned worship, practical preaching, and Christ-honoring music — worship that is both joyful and reverent. We believe the House of God is the most important place we attend each week, and we approach every service with a heart of expectation and reverence.
We desire that each person who visits finds a friendly congregation, a loving church family, and a clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through traditional worship, conservative music, and biblical preaching, we seek to encourage believers to live holy, separated lives that reflect the grace and truth of our Savior.
Whether it is a first-time visitor or a long-time member, our mission remains the same: to exalt Christ, to edify the saints, and to evangelize the lost — all for the glory of God.
Our History
In February 2011, Pastor Joey Clark and his family stepped out on faith to plant a new church in Woodruff, South Carolina. God opened the door for Landmark Baptist Church to begin meeting in the Woodruff Community Center, and on May 17, 2011, the first service was held.
Those early months were marked by faith, prayer, and a strong desire to build a church centered on God’s Word. The congregation quickly grew as families were reached and lives were changed. On April 22, 2012 — just eleven months after that first service — Landmark Baptist Church held its charter service and became an official Fundamental Baptist church.
Since then, the church has continued to grow both numerically and spiritually. Landmark remains committed to preaching the Gospel, discipling believers, and serving the community with grace and truth. Every milestone and ministry continues to reflect the faithfulness of God and the heart of a pastor who simply said “yes” to His call.
Our Values
Statement of Faith
Landmark Baptist Church is proud of its Baptist doctrine, practice, and heritage. We are proud to defend the Fundamentals of the Faith, and we support without compromise the old King James Bible. We believe in aggressive evangelism, the preservation of God’s Word, Christian Education, and the local church.
A Bible Baptist is one who believes in a supernatural Bible, which tells of a supernatural Christ, Who had a supernatural birth, Who spoke supernatural words, Who performed supernatural miracles, Who lived a supernatural life, Who died a supernatural death, Who rose in supernatural splendor, and Who will one day return in supernatural glory to establish a supernatural kingdom on earth.
What We Believe
We believe that the 66 books of the King James Version are the complete, preserved and inspired Word of God for English-speaking people. We believe that the Bible is without any errors and is our sole authority for all matters of faith and practice.
We believe in the Holy Trinity — that there is one God who has eternally existed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Godhead is fully God.
We believe that God created the world and all the universe in six literal, 24-hour days as recorded in Genesis. We do not believe in the day-age theory or any other theory that attempts to reconcile evolution with the Bible. God created the world out of nothing by speaking His Word.
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God from the beginning. His earthly existence began when He was begotten by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary. Jesus Christ lived a perfect, sinless life. He was fully God, yet fully man.
We believe He shed His blood on the cross for our sins. He was buried, and bodily arose from the grave. He ascended up to Heaven from whence He will return one day.
We believe that all men are born with the sin nature inherited from Adam. This sin nature manifests itself in all mankind. All men, apart from the saving grace of God, will spend eternity in Hell as punishment from a holy God.
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith. Man cannot work or earn his way to Heaven. Salvation comes by trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
When a person trusts in and relies upon the blood of Christ to save him, he is regenerated and immediately indwelt by the Holy Spirit. This indwelling of the Holy Spirit is not evidenced by speaking in tongues, but by godly living. A saved person possesses eternal life — he is saved now. This is a permanent work of grace, never to be repeated. Salvation cannot be lost. Once saved, always saved.
We believe a saved person should live a holy, sanctified life. Worldliness should not characterize the Christian’s life.
Once a person is saved, they should be baptized by immersion, join a good Bible-preaching church, witness to the lost, and faithfully serve the Lord.
We believe in the personal, pre-tribulation return of Jesus in the air to rapture out the believers. After this rapture, there will be a seven-year Great Tribulation, followed by the physical return of Jesus to the earth to set up His Kingdom and reign for 1,000 years.
The saved will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord. The unsaved will be cast into a literal Lake of Fire to suffer conscious torment forever and ever.
We believe that the church is a body of which Jesus is the Head. Thus it is not a democracy to be run by the will of its members but is to conduct its temporal (pertaining to this life or this world) as well as its spiritual business in strict accordance to the Word of God.
* These are just some of the beliefs we hold. We regularly say, “Whatever the Bible says is true.”
Why We Are Baptist
In the Twentieth Century, the name Baptist has been given many meanings; but, historically, Baptists have been Evangelical Christians holding to the basic truths of the Christian faith and the following six doctrines:
The Bible as the sole authority for faith and practice.
Independent, autonomous churches.
Regenerated church membership.
Baptism by immersion of believers only, and the Lord’s Supper as the two ordinances of the church.
Priesthood of all believers and soul liberty.
Separation of church and state.
These principles are known as the “Baptist Distinctives.”
